Gordon Hopkins is a native of Omaha, Nebraska and a graduate of Creighton University. In addition to writing and editing books, he also works for the Fairbury Journal-News in Jefferson County, Nebraska, where he writes the award-winning column, Cautiously Optimistic.

In a previous life, he worked as a professional insurance investigator and credit card fraud investigator in San Francisco, Seattle, Hartford and Omaha and is a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
